The son who has owed the whole nation to the nation of the blood for the language, Manikganj has glorified his name Rafikuddin Ahmed. He was born on October 30, 1926 at Paril Baldhara village under Singair upazila of Manikganj. His name is Abdul Latif, mother's name is Rafija Khatun. He passed matriculation examination from Baira High School in 1949. While studying at Jagannath College, he became actively involved in the language movement. Then came the Bahanar 21 Saturday February. On that day, Rafiqi was first established in Dhaka University (now present in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital) during the procession demanding to break the section 144 issued by the government of Pakistan. So he was the first martyr of the Language Movement. He was especially enthusiastic about rhetoric and cultural studies. During his stay in Calcutta, he was a member of the executive council of the Parel-Boldhara Jubaak Samity. He is now in the hearts of fifteen million people by nowhshed Rafiq. His body was buried at Azimpur graveyard.
